Situation
Q1 2026 was the quarter ComputeFi became real. Three powerful forces — AI, zero-knowledge proofs, and decentralised compute — were converging into a single infrastructure layer. The market was beginning to recognise that centralised compute was a structural vulnerability, and that verifiable, trustless compute at scale was not a theoretical ideal but an urgent market need.
Cysic entered the quarter with a compelling technical vision: purpose-built ZK hardware acceleration enabling verifiable AI agents and on-chain computation without the trust compromises of existing solutions. The challenge was not technical credibility — it was category ownership. ComputeFi as a term, as a category, and as a market thesis needed to be defined, seeded, and owned before competitors could claim it.
The opportunity was narrow. Categories are formed in windows of months, not years. Genius PR's mandate was to make Cysic the undisputed voice of ComputeFi before the window closed.
Task
Our task was to transform Cysic from a technically credible project into the defining voice of an emerging category. This required executing across three simultaneous objectives:
- Category Creation: Introduce and embed 'ComputeFi' as industry vocabulary — seeded across Tier-1 media, investor conversations, and ecosystem discussions — before competitors could occupy the space.
- Founder Authority: Position Cysic's founder as the go-to reference point on verifiable AI infrastructure and decentralised compute — the person journalists call, investors follow, and competitors study.
- Narrative Saturation: Achieve blanket coverage across both Tier-1 crypto media (for credibility and category validation) and Tier-2 financial and technology press (for volume, repetition, and SEO permanence).
- Debate Ownership: Secure placement in the defining industry debates of the quarter — not just as a participant, but as the initiating voice that sets the terms of the conversation.
Action
Strategic Narrative
We built the entire campaign around a single ownable thesis: ComputeFi is inevitable, and Cysic is building the infrastructure layer that makes it real. Rather than positioning Cysic as a product within an existing category, we positioned it as the creator of a new one — with three narrative pillars that could be deployed across every format and audience:
- Compute is the Next Frontier: As AI scales and ZK matures, compute becomes the most strategically valuable layer in crypto. Cysic exists at the intersection of all three megatrends.
- Verifiability is the Missing Layer: Without verifiable compute, AI agents cannot be trusted at scale. Cysic solves the problem no one else is solving — and framing it this way made Cysic's coverage inherently newsworthy.
- Verifiable AI Agents + ZK Infrastructure = The Future of Compute: The key narrative planted across Tier-2 syndication to ensure the thesis entered the broader financial and technology media ecosystem.
Founder-Led Debate Strategy
The most powerful placement of the quarter was not a standard feature — it was engineered controversy. We positioned Cysic's founder to directly challenge Charles Hoskinson's stance on decentralised compute and Big Tech partnerships, resulting in dual CoinDesk placements that dominated the conversation. This approach — identifying a prominent industry figure holding a challengeable position and arming our founder with the counter-argument — generated the kind of organic engagement that paid media cannot buy.
Tier-1 and Tier-2 Simultaneous Execution
We ran Tier-1 and Tier-2 outreach in parallel rather than sequentially. Tier-1 placements (CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, Decrypt) confirmed the ComputeFi thesis as credible and investable. Tier-2 syndication (Business Insider, MarketWatch, AP News, Benzinga, BeInCrypto, and 15 others) then amplified that credibility into mass awareness, embedding the narrative into the broader financial and technology media ecosystem through repetition at scale.
Results
Cysic achieved something rare in Q1 2026: high-authority and high-scale visibility simultaneously. The campaign scored 30.5 out of 40 on Genius PR's Category Authority Scoreboard, firmly placing Cysic in Emerging Category Leader territory.
